The Institute for Complex Molecular Systems at Eindhoven University of Technology is a vibrant research community, and creates an environment for inquisitive minds to address major research challenges and push the boundaries of science. For over 10 years, we have worked to generate fundamental knowledge that accelerates innovation in the areas of Advanced Materials and Engineering Health. We achieve this by gaining a deeper understanding of the relationship between the structure, dynamics, processing, and the ultimate functionality of complex molecular systems.
Educating the next generation of scientists and bringing together top talent are at the heart of what we do. With over 240 researchers from across fields within Biomedical Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, and Mathematics and Computer Science, ICMS combines expertise from different disciplines to design and develop the next generation of materials – from self-cleaning coatings to smart heart valves. Our combination of cross-disciplinary expertise and a powerful toolbox of advanced analysis equipment enables scientific excellence at the institute.
Our research, which connects the entire chain of knowledge, serves as a unique source of new principles and concepts for industry that supports their competitive edge. The ICMS Industrial Consortium provides our industrial partners with the necessary know-how to secure their current innovations and create new ones. ICMS is a hub for innovation, often creating research that leads to spin-off companies where original ideas are brought to commercial fruition. We seek to connect researchers, and to create and expand strategic partnerships in academia, industry, and other sectors in order to impact markets and society.
